Family Photography Session at Retzer Nature Center

Retzer Nature Center is one of my favorite locations for family photography near Milwaukee. With wooded trails, open green spaces, and beautiful boardwalk paths, it offers plenty of variety while still giving little ones room to explore.

This sweet family joined me for an early summer session with their young son, and he completely stole the show. From exploring the trails to walking hand-in-hand with mom and dad and finishing with bubbles among the pine trees, the session felt relaxed, playful, and full of genuine moments.

One of my favorite things about photographing families with toddlers is embracing their curiosity rather than expecting perfect poses. Some of the best images happen in between—the laughter after being tossed into the air, little hands reaching for mom and dad, or the excitement of chasing bubbles through the trees.

Retzer is one of those locations that works beautifully throughout the year. It offers a great mix of scenery without requiring a lot of walking, which is especially helpful when little legs get tired.
